However, because very few people use EVs and the infrastructure cost for setting up such facilities is high (especially in the early stages of adoption), companies are not adopting this solution. In theory, bigger batteries mean higher range. At the same time, the cost of power procurement for fast charging stations is not reflected in the current electricity scenario. In a country such as India, customers may prefer paying a small periodic fee for swapping service, instead of a huge premium capital cost, to overcome the disadvantages of time consuming home charging. However, at present, customers of Tesla are paying a big premium for the super-charging facility through a high vehicle cost. : A majority of vehicles responsible for the remaining four-fifths of trips on road (if replaced by EVs) are likely to be charged at home, at the end of a working day. For example, after one trip to the airport (~100 km) EV taxis have to wait anywhere between 1. 5 and 6 hours for the next trip depending on the speed of the available charging facility. The standards should be established in consultation with vehicle and battery manufacturers, research labs and public representatives. To begin with, setting up battery swap stations is highly capital-intensive.
